Described by Birmingham City Council as “columns of Portland Stone [with] reversed bronze letters spelling Virgil, the Roman poet whose works were printed by Baskerville in the famous typeface that bears his name, in 1757”. It’s a large stone model of letter punches, in Baskerville font, named for Sir John Baskerville. The art stands in front of Baskerville House in Centenary Square and was put there in 1990.
